The Unaccompanied Minors are the University of Waterloo’s premier mixed-voice, auditioned a cappella ensemble founded in 2009.

The Minors consist of 20 to 24 musically talented students who are extremely passionate about delivering powerful, high-energy performances that span genres from top 40 hits, to indie, to R&B. Focusing on blend, musicality, and performance, they have been spreading the aca-love wherever they go. 

From the Kitchener-Waterloo Area at campus events like TEDxUW, to the United States to compete at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), they have blown away audiences with their incredible arrangements and powerful performances.

In 2020, The Unaccompanied Minors placed 2nd at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Central Quarterfinals! Our members have also won awards for Outstanding Soloist and Outstanding Arrangement.

In 2021, The Unaccompanied Minors remotely competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. They placed 2nd in the Central Quarterfinal and received special awards for Outstanding Vocal Percussion and Outstanding Videography! They advanced to the Semifinal round and placed 3rd in a stacked competition, also receiving the Outstanding Mix award!

In 2021, The Unaccompanied Minors also remotely competed in the Slaight Music Sing! Toronto Collegiate A Cappella Competition and won the Grand Prize,
